Vashon Park District's Bruce Haulman Junior Sailing Program / Adult & Family Weekend Lessons

We are back and registration for summer 2025 youth camps, adult & family sessions are now open!

VERY IMPORTANT:  When setting up new accounts, the Head of Household is the primary account holder.  Please do not add a child's name to the Head of Household field.  Add family members after you create the account in your name.  We must have your emergency contact information.  Thank you!

Please be aware that weekend private adult or family Sailing lessons are dependent on staffing availability, and registration deadlines are two weeks before the start of each session.

Youth lessons include 4 days of instruction (no overnights), Monday through Thursday, for much of the day.  You can see each course in detail if you click on the "Info" button next to the course you are interested in.  There are two tiers:  Beginner for ages 8-11 and Junior for ages 12-18.  Experience and previous classes may be taken into consideration instead of age.  Our apologies, but we no longer offer a discount for repeat sailors.  For reasons of confidentiality and safety, we cannot disclose which class a particular child is attending for those looking to pair their child with a friend.

Adult/Family lessons are weekends on alternating Saturdays & Sundays. Please note that if the minimum adult class registration is not reached, the class may be canceled.

Scholarships: 

VPD & QYC offer partial scholarships for youth in need, generally at 50%. Please follow the instructions and send a completed form (available on our sailing camp web page)  to info@vashonparks.org. Funds are limited and priority is given with proof of need.

PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS TO BEGINNER AND JUNIOR SAILING:
• Change of clothes with a towel
• Bathing suit
• Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
• Lunch AND a sports bottle (non-glass) with beverage 
• Youth campers - (THURSDAY ONLY) pirate gear, running shoes, lunch in a waterproof carrier
